Join us for a special evening at the World Press Photo Exhibition. As well as being the first to view the 2025 selection, you’ll hear from a World Press Photo curator, judge, and winning photographer, talking about the importance of press freedom and how photography helps tell the stories the world needs to hear.
In addition, you’ll get an exclusive look at additional images from photographer Tatsiana Chypsanava’s long term project Te Uruwera – The Living Ancestor of Tūhoe People, which profiles 10 years with the Ngāi Tūhoe of Aotearoa New Zealand’s Te Urewera region.

Martha Echevarria, World Press Photo Foundation curator
Martha joins us from her home base in Amsterdam where she completed an MA in Arts, Culture and Society and has been part of the World Press Photo team for four years. Each year she is responsible for helping more than 25 partners all over the world to deliver the World Press Photo exhibition in their own cities. Her work is not only to attract the public to see the images and engage with their subjects, but also to appreciate the extraordinary work of photojournalists.
Julia Durkin MNZM
Julia is the Founder and CEO of the Auckland Festival of Photography in New Zealand, and was a World Press Photo jury member in 2025. She has been a portfolio reviewer for festivals across Asia, Europe, and Australasia and on the jury of various prestigious contests including the Nikon Photo Contest, Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards and China International Press Photo. In the 2020 New Year’s Honours List, Julia was named a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her contributions to photography.
Tatsiana Chypsanava
Tatsiana is a documentary photographer based in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Born in Belarus and a descendant of the Komi peoples of the Siberian North West Ural, she is a member of Diversify Photo and Women Photograph, both groups that champion diversity in the industry. Her work focuses on indigenous rights, migration, and environmental issues. She is the 2025 winner for the Asia-Pacific and Oceania region Long Term Projects category for her story Te Uruwera – The Living Ancestor of Tūhoe People.
